Etymology[edit] berry ("small fruit", n.) + blue ("blue in colour", adj.), influenced by blueberry. Flavour name was originally coined for product packaging. Honeysuckle name was coined 1990s, by Oregon nurseryman Jim Gilbert. Berry Blue (uncountable) - A flavour of packaged dessert foods that is colored blue and meant to simulate the flavour of berries.
