Etymology[edit]

From Ottoman Turkish  (sevdi) (compare Turkish sevdi), third-person singular past definite indicative of  (sevmek) (Turkish sevmek ("to love")), used as a participle in Serbo-Croatian. Akin to севда̀лӣнка, севда̀лија, севда̀лук, сѐвда̄х, сѐвдисати.

  • Hyphenation: сев‧ди
