Boeing 777 flying from
Seoul crashed while landing at San Francisco International Airport Saturday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Images from television station KTVU in San Francisco showed extensive fire damage to the airplane and black smoke coming from the wreckage, which had lost its tail and one of its wings in the crash.
Fire engines were on scene and the fire, which had burned through the cabin's roof, appeared to be out.
It was unclear how many people were on board and whether they were able to escape.
The tail of the plane came off while it was touching down on the runway, according to media reports.
