| | + | * {{l|hu|potyka}} - a very old, archaic word (only used by the older population over the age of 60, and still quite rarely). It still survives in mainstream Hungarian as names for people, places, etc. It means litter (as in a litter of puppies, kittens, etc.) but it was often used as a name for children, as in a "litter" of children. It could technically even be used as a word for a young boy, much like [[fiú]], but definitely not as commonly. May have some relation with the Proto-Uralic reconstructed word ''*pojka''. It also demonstrates an obvious relationship with the modern Finnish word, [[poika]], which can also be used as referring to a litter of something, and for a young boy. |
