A shooting at a North Carolina high school Friday left one injured, and a suspect was in custody, police said.
Just before 2:30pm, the Winston-Salem Police Department received calls of a shooting at Carver High School, northeast of downtown Winston-Salem.
Police said the school was secured and the students were safe.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening, police said.
More than 700 students attend Carver High, according to the school's website.
This isn't the first time Carver has had a problem involving a gun. In January, the school was placed on lockdown after a student brought an unloaded .22-caliber pistol onto the campus, local TV station WGHP reported The student was arrested and charged with illegal weapons possession.
