I wonder if it comes from حَبيبيw:Habibi? The ending would be wrong for a women in Arabic, but it might have lost that distinction in the transition to Urdu. Chuck Entz 07:25, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

The word is long-obsolete, and has only two cites in the OED, but I'll add it since the OED retains it. Dbfirs 21:07, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

  • palatography, palatographic, palatogram
  • peer group (c.f. dictionary.com)
  • pedestrian hacker, or do we need another meaning for pedestrian.
  • piggle -- verb, to piggle. Present in the OED from the 19th century, still in use currently, it means to fiddle with something.
  • preprogramme
  • Priental - The name of a clipper ship, circa 1849. Possibly from adjective word. *** This is the valley of the Prien River in southern Bavaria (Tal means valley), a very scenic locale in the foothills of the Alps where the Pope lived for a while as a boy. I'm not so sure that the name itself is significant enough for a dictionary entry, though: Wikipedia doesn't even mention the river or the valley- just the towns in the area. Chuck Entz (talk) 03:56, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
  • put the brakes on - common idiom; see hits on OneLook ---> Tooironic (talk) 03:46, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
  • pygg see Wikipedia entry - Is this a hoax? I can find nothing about this so-called pygg clay except modern explanations of supposed "piggy bank" etymology. Equinox 15:07, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

  • superbolide -- a term that has been used in esoteric technical astrophysics for some years, but came into the popular lexicon more prominently after the asteroid that entered Earth's atmosphere over Russia in Feburary 2013 was identified as a "superbolide". See, for example, Wikipedia:Chelyabinsk meteor. FWIW, Google shows 23,600 hits on Superbolide as of today. Scholarly articles show 138 hits on Google scholar. Usage note: superbolide is used as a noun describing a particular large size of bolide or fireball meteor; it is ALSO used as an adjective as in "superbolide meteor" or "superbolide event", including in the scholarly literature. • zoop onomatopoeic; correlates with zip and zap; Bones, season 3, episode 2 "zip it" "but" "zoop"
  • zucked or zuckered (blend of "Zuckerberg" and "fucked" or "suckered"): left in a disadvantageous position after Mark Zuckerberg's behaviour with regard to Facebook shares: if it has enough evidence at end of the year.
