A new poll shows Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney are locked in a battle for Ohio, the biggest prize in the Super Tuesday contests.
Santorum leads Romney, 35% to 31%, among likely GOP voters in the Quinnipiac University poll released this morning. While Santorum is leading, the difference in support is within the survey's margin of error.
One sign of volatility in Ohio: About one-third of likely GOP voters say they might still change their mind in the next five days.
"At this point, the Buckeye State is too close to call and is clearly a two-man race between Sen. Rick Santorum and Gov. Mitt Romney," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Newt Gingrich has 17% support in the poll, followed by Ron Paul with 12%.
Voters in 10 states will make their decisions about the GOP presidential nomination, but the battle in Ohio is also key to the general election. No Republican has ever won the White House without winning the Buckeye State.
