Rfv-sense: (US, idiomatic, pejorative, ethnic slur, colloquial, dated) Describing a black person.
- 1965, "American law reports annotated. second series", volume 76, page 1276:
- "...are not entitled to anything, Mrs. Wright, (referring to one of the appellees), because your son (referring to the deceased, F.A. Wright, Jr.), was a cotton picking Negro."
I don't think the cite supports the definition, nor that other cites can by found to support the definition. "Cotton-picking" is a general purpose, sometimes pejorative intensifier. In this quotation, it might be taken as literal or to indicate a "field" Negro, rather than a "house" Negro. DCDuring TALK 04:09, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
