A gunman went on a shooting spree in North Florida Saturday morning, killing his former employer and a former co-worker and wounding two other former co-workers before taking his own life, the police said.
The sheriff's office in Union County, north of Gainesville, said in a statement that Hubert Allen Jr., 72, shot and killed the co-worker, Rolando Gonzalez-Delgado, 28, and the employer, Marvin Pritchett, 80, on Pritchett's property around 9 a.m.
Minutes later, according to the police, Allen shot and wounded the second co-worker, Lewis Mabrey Jr., 66, with a small-bore shotgun after the two "exchanged words" while Mabrey was driving a farm tractor on a county road.
Mabrey was hit in the left arm and side and was expected to undergo surgery for a broken arm and other injuries. He was considered stable and in good condition.
Allen then went to the Pritchett Trucking Company in Lake Butler, Fla., where he used to work, and shot the third co-worker, David Griffis, 44, in the stomach. Griffis was rushed to surgery and was listed in critical condition.
The police say Allen then returned to his Lake Butler home and fatally shot himself.
